The Wittenberg Softball team had a rough week in their quest to win the NCAC Conference regular season crown.  Coming into the week the team was in good position to win the conference if they could at least split their two series of the week.  However, this proved to be too tough of a task for the Tigers, as they lost all 4 games with Depauw and then Denison, two of the top teams in the league.

On Wednesday, April 18, the Tigers traveled to Depauw and lost 3-4 and 4-5.  The Depauw team was ranked 12 in the country at the time, and Wittenberg came as close as they could to upsetting the higher ranked team.

Then on Saturday, April 21th, the Tigers lost to Denison 1-4 and 1-3.  These losses pushed the team into a five-way tie for third place in the conference.  Only the top 4 teams in the conference advance to the NCAC Conference Tournament, so the final doubleheader against Oberlin will be extremely important for the Tigers.  A sweep would most likely earn the team a berth in the tournament, where as March Madness shows us, anything can happen.
