The Wittenberg Tigers were able to put away the Wooster Fighting Scots again for a 42-21 victory on Senior Day at the home front at Edwards- Maurer Field. The Tigers finish up their season with a 8-2 record and second place in the North Coast Athletic Confrence.
For the thirteen seniors playing, this was their last game of the regular season and possibly the last time they will be playing on the field if they don’t qualify for post-game competition next week.
This is the Tigers 17th straight win against the Scots. The Tigers had 22 first downs overall, 172 rushing yards, and 340 passing yards.
One of the seniors, Josh McKee had an amazing finale to his football career with a total of 199 running yards and two major touchdowns for the tigers.
Senior quarterback Ben Zoeller wraped up his final game with a total of 337 passing yards including the two touchdowns passed to Josh McKee.
In the first quarter of the game Wittenberg scored a touchdown to put themselves on the board with a extra field goal attempt. Then in the second quarter Wittenberg scored another touchdown, increasing thier lead. But the Scots didn’t go away without a fight–they answered back with a touchdown of their own, showing the Tigers that this was not going to be an easy game to win. The Tigers reasserted their dominance with another 7 points in the books for the closing of the first half making the game 20-7.
The second half became a battle of skill between the two teams as the Tigers battled to keep their scores up with another two touchdowns in the third quarter and the Scots answering with a touchdown of their own, making the score 34-14 in favor of Wittenberg.
Wittenberg prevailed over the Scots, the final game score was 42-21.
