Tigers Baseball Sweep Wabash Little Giants

The weather on April 3 was perfect for a day of baseball, the sun was out with a relaxing breeze. Spectators cheered for Wittenberg as they hosted the Wabash Little Giants at Carleton Davidson Stadium. The Tigers and Little Giants played a doubleheader series. The Tigers dominated the first game, winning 15-3, which ended after seven innings. The second game, the Tigers won by the score of 6-1 with some late game heroics.

During the second game, there was a pitching duel. The first run of the game did not occur until the fourth inning when Wabash was able to score from a single.

The Tigers’ offense caught fire in the bottom of the eighth inning. This burst of hits was started off with a double to center field from Mason Davis, ‘21. Matt Baker, ’19, then hit the ball over the second baseman’s head for a single, which allowed Ma. Davis to run home for the game-tying run. The momentum fully shifted to Wittenberg after two consecutive players hit a single. Hayden Knox, ’21, then put the game away in the very next at-bat with a towering three-run homer to right field, securing the 6-1 victory over the Little Giants.

The baseball team’s next home game will be played on April 6, which is a double-header against Hiram College at noon and 3 p.m. Then on Sunday, April 14 the men take on Adrian College at 2 p.m.

As Wittenberg has won two consecutive games, they have improved their season record to 10-8, while the two wins also even out Wittenberg’s record at 2-2 in conference play.
