Spotlight on a Tiger — Alison Newton

Q: What sport do you play?

A: Softball.
Q: What made you decide to play your sport?
A: I started playing softball when I was five, and never looked back. At that time, it was a fun way to stay active as a little girl. Growing up, I continued to develop the passion of the game, and it brought me here to Witt.

Q: From your college career, what is your favorite memory from your sport?
A: Our spring break trips to Florida, while spending time away from the stresses of school in the sun and playing the sport I love with the teammates I love.

Q: What advice would you give to those who wish to pursue a sport?
A: Establish a strong dedication to time management. Balancing sports, academics, extracurricular activities and perhaps a job is no easy task, and thus requires extra planning and organization that will allow you to be successful in all of your activities.

Q: What is your favorite part of your sport?
A: The sense of community and the opportunity that the softball program has offered me with teaching me the valuable lessons of teamwork and leadership — these traits are directly applicable to many real life situations that I will be able to experience throughout my life.
